• To get Piranha Plant for free, all you have to do is register your game before a certain date (something like late December). Pre-order does not affect it.

• I believe if you buy it and register the game to your My Nintendo account before January 2019. You can do so by pressing the + button on your Switch while over the game icon and selecting the option then selecting which account to register it under(Must have a Nintendo account).
