I have a different Swann system. You don't need internet to view it in your home, but if you want to view your cameras while you're away, you do. An ethernet cable is included to attach the DVR to your router for remote viewing.

no, we did not need internet yes, a team from Best Buy came out and installed the cameras it was a very pleasant experience for us. they were very knowledgeable, courteous and efficient.
