Hello Lynn, Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. This recorder kit will take a hardwired connection to your router. If you would like to connect the recorder to your wifi network, you will need to add our Swann Wireless Adapter. This recorder can connect to a monitor using a VGA or HDMI cable. Swann does not charge any fees for remote access and control using our Swann Security application. The IR lights can not be turned off to use on a window seal. The connection when remotely accessing and controlling the device is private.
