Is Ethernet required or will wifi work? null

You can connect via Wi-Fi or ethernet :)

Either will work, but I think you must connect it ethernet first to setup the wifi.

If supports both. The unit has a max of 100 mps with an ethernet cable. If you use wifi, depending on your router, it will support up to 1,300 mps. Your choice on what to use!
