It is not a USB C docking station so you will need a separate power supply to charge your laptop.

Hi Sam, That is the only drawback to this docking station. I do have to plug in the docking station to a USB port and my power cord. I am using a Lenovo 900 and it has changed my life. I have two external 27" monitors and my 14" laptop screen that are working at the same time.

It does not charge the laptop because it is a universal docking station and was not built specifically for any product. You will need the laptop powercord to charge your laptop. There is only one connection from the docking station to your laptop and this is via a single USB cable.
