The opening does allow for the flash. The new iPad Pro 9.7 has a raised lens on the camera so the opening is slightly beveled to help the flash.

Look up this model on Targus.com for more photos and specs. It is made for the Ipad Pro 9.7, and clearly the opening is large enough. Regarding the volume keys - that's absurd for several reasons. If they weren't placed correctly, you'd have issues with the volume control regardless, but that said you still wouldn't need to take it our of the case to adjust the volume. There are volume keys ON THE KEYBOARD, as well as the software-based control you can access by simply swiping up from the bottom of the screen.

There is plenty of room around the lense and flash to allow the function as Apple intended. Targus clearly had the right spec for the iPad Pro 9.7.

I have the Ipad Air which is what the case said it was made for (although I don't remember if the packaging said I pad pro) It looks like to me because the way that the opening is cut triangularly that the flash would work fine, however I cannot confirm as I do not have an Ipad Pro.

Yes. The opening is big enough for the camera on the ipad pro 9.7". I have one and it works great expect the sleep/wake functions.

The Apple base works just fine, but too expensive in my opinion! I found one on Amazon that is perfect for me, and for around $10.00. Love Apple, but Apple needs to rethink its prices!

Very tight fit but volume buttons do not align with case forcing you to remove case to turn down. Go buy a different one
