If you go into setting and "allow voice commands when tv screen is off" - the light goes out now after 10 minutes or so after you turn the tv off.

When I saw this post I tried painters tape blue and the TV remote still worked. It also dimed down the bright blue.

Covering the Standby LED also covers the IR receiver and may cause issues with using the remote. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support
