This TV does indeed feature an IR sensor. Our TVs are compatible with most Universal and cable remotes. Many Universal and cable box remotes can be programmed to control select features on the TV. You can visit https://support.tcl.com/us-remote-codes for more information. If you do not see your specific remote, you would need to contact the remote's manufacturer to obtain the remote code from them. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'd say so because if I'm farther away I have to point it just so --> if you're wondering is the Roku remote operating over radio waves, no. BUT the Roku operation is quite different from typical stuff, like you can't punch in channel 16 or whatever, so unless your universal remote has buttons to correspond to Roku operation, it won't really work. On the other hand, I got rid of DirecTV and the stupid always-noisy cable box and $130 a month, so maybe you don't need that universal remote any more.
