“why would this tv allow some devices to work with composite AV cables and not others? For example my 2006 Wii will work but a 2012 Blu-ray player will not. All the devices I tested with will work with older flat screen tv?”

• This TV has 1 AV input (red, white and yellow). Try to use an RCA to HDMI Converter like the model NS-HZ330.

• The yellow line is the only line that runs video and cannot run in HD or progressive scan. So if your blu ray player is set for any HD output the composite can't understand it. Component cables and HDMI are the ones designed for this.
