There is only one ethernet port on the unit. You can plug the cable in and use unit as a new wifi access point for the family room and beyond. There is no need then to connect your laptop via an ethernet cable - just use the wifi connection. Download the Tether App before setting up the extender - it makes installation extremely easy - just follow the on screen prompts.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Gabe, Extenders generally only have 1 ethernet port. The purpose of the port changes based on the mode the extender is in. In AP mode it connects to the host router physically. In RE mode it is used for a client device like a computer.
