A Wi-Fi extender must be installed in a location where it can receive adequate signal from the origin network source, yet far enough from it to effectively extend its range. It also must be installed indoors. For example, if the Wi-Fi source's signal is very poor at your location, and you install the Wi-Fi extender in that same location, it will just extend a poor signal.
