I had an existing one because I have a Samsung tablet and so I was able to use the same one. If you don't have an account, you should see an option to set one up. Use your home or a free Wi-fi connection to do this. It should also ask if you want to skip this step until later. The account will enable you to keep your phone's software up to date. I'd advise not to use your phone minutes to do this but then again I am cheap.
