“I heard it doesn't have surround sound. Will that make a huge difference in terms of hearing where opponents are? Or is it close to the same thing? I'm a casual gamer but sound is a huge factor when I play.”

Not sure you can really get true surround sound of a headset like this, but I use for gaming on Fortnite among other games and it works just fine. I can hear to the left, right, in front behind me and I can usually tell where the sound is coming from. For the price point, good entry level set, these will work wonderfully.
