• You can put (easily) 40 lbs on each shelf. Not sure why you would, but you could. This isnt flimsy.

• I can't say for sure if the weight limit is only 45 lbs. My tv is a 55 inch Samsung on it, with a VCR (yes that's right), a PS3, and a DVD player. It handles all of those just fine.

• Can’t reall help you. Not using to hold TV. We had our 72” flat screen mounted to wall. Using for TV accessories: receiver, DVD player, VHS player.
