• If you have the speed option set up in the settings menu it will record your speed.

• My wife uses this unit in our newer car and has positive results so far with a few minor glitches that were figured out. The battery seems to run out by the end of the week, but she only drives 15 miles a day. The answer to your question is No it doesn't record your speed only displays current mph. Uniden has been making CB radios and other electronics for quite a while, There is a one year warranty.
