• My wife just got back from Japan. Similar devices are available there for rent. Cost is about $1 / day for, according to her, unlimited wifi.

• This only works with Verizon. I seriously doubt it will work overseas. I would just get an Internet connection locally in the country I'm traveling to.

• The unequivocal answer to your question is this device will definitely not work in Japan or anywhere outside of the U.S.A., since this model of Ellipsis Hotspot is not globally capable.

• Just got back from 16 days in Japan, device we rented cos around 95 for the device, very helpful even on fast trains but by late in the day had to be recharged. Every hotel we utayed had good free WiFi in rooms, etc. The device was really helpful when navigating train stations like Tokyo, etc., very complex and very large also for subways
