The pay as you go with no contract is what I needed for my business. It's very useful when I work my events and the wifi is weak or unavailable.

I needed to Internet access while traveling and the jet pack proved to be really useful. Speed is pretty good though nothing like home cable. I used up to 3 laptops and the device delivered reliably. Documentation states you can connect 8 devices max though I didn't try it. There are not many menu options but it is pretty simple to use. Speed varies based on coverage.

I was looking for an easy to use temporary internet connection while in transition between full-time providers. The device was easy to use and set up quickly and offered decent coverage throughout the house. However, the data usage was just beyond belief and extremely expensive. In two weeks of use I burned through three bundles 16 gigs worth costing way over $150. This was no live streaming, no music just basic data searches, email and social sites. Never again. Beware of these bundle plans.

I switched to prepaid wireless with the major pink carrier a year and a half ago and have had a great experience...in the city. The issue I had was when I would get off the beaten path, my data uplink would drop and that was problematic. I needed something to supplement my data when my primary carrier data coverage was sketchy. This device was the answer. I have historically been wary of the red carrier's contracts and high cost plans. It wasn't a good value for my situation. But on coverage area, they simply can't be beat. This device was very reasonably priced out-the-door and with the newly revised data plans, I decided to go with it. It has worked wonderfully. I am.happy with my purchase and with the overall service, especially with the coverage. I haven't even found a place where I didn't have reception. The only complaint I have which isn't a huge deal is that the device itself can never seem to determine how much data I've used. The feature is there on the device, it just doesn't work. To view my data usage I must log into the red carrier's web portal, which isn't a big deal, but it would be nice if the device's built in feature worked. That being said, I would buy this again in a heartbeat. Works great tethered with my laptop and my various other mobile devices. If you're on the fence, go ahead and pull the trigger, you won't be disappointed.

When I first got it the speed was incredible but soon after I started to notice the speed I was getting started slowing down... almost like it was being throttled back. I did some research and I see others are experiencing the same thing. Don't get me wrong, overall it still works pretty good and over time I get both great speed and okay speed. It has noting to do with where I'm using it as others have stated the same thing happens to them in the same place too. I've had others and overall I still like this one the best.

I had never used a hot spot before. I was quite impressed with the ease of use, the download speed and convenience. I purchased this to help me out during a 60 day period of waiting on high speed service to be available in a rural area. It was less expensive than using an available (much slower) internet service and then having to pay a cancellation fee when they high speed was finally ready. In addition, i can now keep my JetPack and use it for travel or my notebook. The only downside was trying to purchase additional data later direct from Verizon Quicker to go back to a store to purchase cards for additional data time.

My husband and I live in Mexico and travel a lot to US. We tend to go each on our way and communication was always a problem. We got our jetpack over a friend's recommendation, who lend it to us to try it. We just loved it!! Now that we have it, we buy the prepaid cards only when we are going to use it, you can connect from several devices in a range of 100ft. It's super easy to use and compact. Best buy ever!!!

I have owned a couple of these cellular hotspots in the past. It has been great to have your own internet when traveling, you never want to use public wifi if you don't have too, with all the fraud and phishing going on.
The price of the Ellipsis jetpack was great, and 10G for 60 days is only a hundred bucks.
I needed this for a project where we had 15 people going online for a seminar, and the location's wired internet was terrible. This worked very well.
Easy to connect, Easy to set up your account, (much better than in the past which took forever to even renew your pre-paid account)
For sure would recommend.

This portable wifi works really well. I am sure it's got the best reception .
The price for the unit itself is good but the price for the pre pay card is too high this is the only reason I am giving it it 4 stars. I pay $60.00 for 30 day it's too high.

I bought this device as it was the cheapest in the store. We took it with us on our summer RV trip and it worked everywhere we took it (Arkansas, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota and Iowa) except for some sections of Yellowstone. There are differing payment and data levels depending on what you will be doing online, so we could pay for only what we needed. I also like that I can pay for a month's usage whenever I want. I was very satisfied.

Internet data with limitations

Verizon Ellipsis Mi-fi unit does what is supposed to do but has limitations. First is owners manual which doesn't detail all features and capabilities. Wanted similar characteristics to a router but no details of doing so are in manual. However found through usage that the unit allows individual connected phones, tablets and computers to "talk" to each other like in router LAN/WAN. Not sure though if there is a data usage (cost to me) connected with using hotspot unit as a router like device.
Next is VERY limited battery life. Charged battery with charger only to find battery charge lasted less than 12 hours! Using local hotspot device in present location requires 24/7 usage so device has to stay continuously connected to the charger.
Also have tried several times since setting up usage two weeks ago to use built-in readout to view data usage. Just tried again and still get same indication: "Data usage is not available at this time"! Looks like Verizon will get some additional data usage from me as I'll have to go on line to access the account to monitor current data usage rather than get a free usage count through the device.
Lastly was a concern regarding whether planned usage location did in fact have 4G coverage as this device only works where there is 4G/4G lite signal. The Verizon coverage map had some questionable notes and symbols at planned location. Found unit through use that worked fine at the location.
So overall device works as advertised but has some limitations with workarounds.

The hotspot works great. The data is very expensive for this type of internet connection, but I am located in a remote location and it's my only option. One thing I don't like about it is the menu displays the password to the hotspot, so if anyone stole it, they could use up all the data. I have not yet found a way to turn that feature off.

Picked up the Jetpack for my brother who wanted to use it as a remote internet option for a PC he uses. The Jetpack is solid design, small and easy to setup. It takes about 5-10 minutes to get online. The only issues so far are that it needs to be restarted every once in awhile as Verizon's site (or server) goes down. The other problem is the high cost of data access at close to $100 for 10gb. But that's the price you pay for remote hotspot access.

Love this item. Got a prepaid phone with limited data so purchased the additional Hotspot separately. Great signal everywhere and easy to use. You can set up the account with Verizon to keep an eye on your usage. Really is a great product.
