I am testing mine for the same thing. I took it with me to Vietnam where the cell phone bands are the same as Verizon. Jetpack recognizes the SIM from Vinaphone and displays that the card is registered. However I cannot get a connection to the data services of the carrier. The SIM works fine in a cell phone. So it seems the jetpack works with a non-Verizon SIM but the carrier may need to configure your account as well. Since I have not been able to get online, I have not checked my range.
