Everything is in the box! I did purchase an external harddrive just for storing the newly created files. You could burn them right to DVDs though.

no need to buy a cable, the USB cable comes with it and the cables for your VCR

Standard RCA connectors are included for input FROM most analogue video players to the VIDBOX. If these are priceless home videos you are digitizing, I would suggest gold cables. Also note that if your playback machine has S-VHS capability, the VIDBOX will accept it. A standard USB cable is included for output to your computer. The VIDBOX is powered up as soon as it is plugged into the computer.

I didn't need to buy any other cables. 
If you prefer using S-video over RCA cables, you'll need to bring your own, but the RCA cables worked just fine for me.

I successfully transferred everything over the network. No extra cables. Your device will need to be able to run the Parallels transporter agent application to transfer over Ethernet.
