“I have vidbox for mac, using on my macbook air. I do not have any space left on hard drive. How can i use my external passport hard drive to then burn to my external dvd player. Also,IDVD is no longer available can i do without this? Thank you.”

You can digitize straight to your external hard drive, just plug it in. After that, to burn a dvd with your files you will need DVD burning software, and a DVD Burning drive

If your Mac will allow the software to save directly to the external hard drive, you can set that up in the software. If it does not, you will need to save to the internal drive, then move the resulting files to the external drive. If you do not have iDVD, you would need to look into other burning software online or through the App Store if you need to make video discs.
