“I only get sound in one headphone speaker, not both, when plugged into the headphone jack. After chatting with Vizio support they concluded that it is the way the tv is designed. Has anyone found the same problem, and is there a solution?”

I would try a mono to stereo adapter. You can get one for as little as 50 cents. Just google mono to stereo adapter... Good luck!
