• Yes, the tv will update itself when connected to the internet

• Firmware updates can be searched for via the set up menu, but my set notified me when an update was available for download. Not sure that it pushes updates through unless you approve the installation. But updates are simple.

• Yes. Mine went through a few startup checks for and installations of new updates when I first got it. They were automatic and they were quick. I also noticed that the Amazon app updated itself; it was non-functional with an apologetic error message from the publisher on day one. On day three it had a banner across the icon stating that it was a new release, and it worked flawlessly.
