It has to be laid vertical so the TV is upright in the packaging. This is done to protect the screen during shipping

Yes - on the back side on a back seat very carefully. NOT ON THE SCREEN SIDE. If it fits in the vehicle . I have a jeep Cherokee and I had to lay it in the back cargo are on its back side with my back seats down. If your question is - will it fit your vehicle ?? Depends on what you have.
