I had it assembled by the Geek Squad and they did put in the back panels. You will not have any problems with heat since not only are there two holes in each panel, they are deep enough to not have your equipment up against the back panel. But I am sure if you wanted to assemble yourself, it would not be a problem with the center back panel open if that is what you want.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Sinjin The back panel has pre cut holes in each section for ventilation and cable management. You are welcome to leave the back panels off, it should not affect the structural integrity of the item. But assembling it contrary to instructions would void the warranty. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
