Check to make sure the nozzle is clocked in completely. I had the same experience once and popped it out and back in, listening for that click. It should not leak out of the handle end of the nozzle

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Either the rubber stopper in the bottom of the plastic tank is not seated correctly or the plastic tubing may have a leak or is not fully connected inside of the unit. you may need to call Waterpik. They are very helpful.
