Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The disk operates as an authentication of ownership. You’d have to buy the digital version if you want to go disk less. This was a thing during the early days of pc gaming. Consoles work a bit different I believe. It installs the majority of the game onto the drive and uses the information on the drive and some off the disk. This was the case with the ps3 because blu ray drives read slower than DVD or cd players.
