• I installed this in a late-2011 MacBook Pro with no installation issues. This should be the same for the mid-2012 models, and probably for any MacBook with an actual hard drive (many newer models have SSD or flash memory "drives").

• So turns out my laptop will not format (disk utility>erase..) or install OS on this disk. Any ideas/tricks? Myself and two different techs have tried with no luck :(

• you will have to format it for mac in disk utility, but yes it will work.
