• This should work fine in your ASUS K501J-RX05. it's the right form factor and connector for your laptop. Its slightly bigger than the standard 320gb drive that came standard in your laptop so it'll be a nice upgrade. Unfortunately you only have one hard drive bay (place to install a hard drive) so you'll have to install Windows (or your chosen operating system) on it. If your laptop came with cds for Windows installation you should be able to use those. Otherwise buy the drive and have a professional at a local tech shop install an operating system for you. • Assuning that your ASUS device is a laptop, an easy way to find out is to download a small free program called Crystal Disk Info and then execute it. The program will identify the interface for your internal harddrive in a data block right under the device identification which is in large capital letters and numbers. If the interface is 'serial ATA', then this drive is compatible and will fit.

• It should normally fit if the drive is 2.5inches. You can always buy it and if it doesn't fit, return it. Best buy has a 15-45 day return policy with no restocking fee.
