You have to initialize the disk. One way to do that is to connect to a computer via USB and go to disk management and it will prompt you to initialize.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You don't need a download for a computer to detect hard drives. It depends on where you're trying to look for it or why you installed it. If your computer's main hard drive stopped working and you're planning on installing the operating system on this one, it should detect the drive automatically once Windows has booted from your dvd or USB. If you installed it as a secondary drive, you need to go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, and then storage/disk management. From there you'll be able to see the different partitions and drives connected to your system. Your new drive will probably have a black line on top (as opposed to a blue line). You'll need to right-click it and choose "format." From there it should show up in your PC drive list.

If it's format issue, go into console, terminal or command, whatever your os is, then type diskpart for win 7-10 gparted for Linux or disk util for Mac's. Then format the drive to what ever filesystem you need. If it's the bios, an easy fix is going into the bios and hard drive setting. Then enable the port it's plugged into.
