“Can I use this as a back up hard drive for my iMac computer?”

Hi, Please be informed that you can use it with an iMac as a backup hard drive. You may just need to reformat it to a macOS-compatible file system (like HFS+ or APFS for Time Machine, or exFAT if you want cross-compatibility with windows.)
