Plug it in your mac, open disk utility and then you can select the drive and format it to whatever you want and make partitions if you choose to. Very simple and straightforward on a mac.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There are instructions to reformat for a Mac. I still had some problems so I called WD and they guided me through the process and I was up and running in a few minutes.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Use Disk Utility on a Mac to erase and the drive before you put anything on it, and when you erase it it will ask you how you'd like to reformat it. Reformat it to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
