“Can this drive be used through a usb hub?”

• Unless it's a powered Hub it's unlikely the drive will work correctly while connected to the hub. The new USB C hubs provide plenty of power but older USB 3 or 2 hubs typically will not have enough juice coming from the computer port to supply power to an external hard drive.
