• Yes, it will work with a MacBook Air. When inserted, it may ask you to reformat it - you can do this, but you will lose all data on the hard drive if there is any present. There are multiple file system types, but typically if you want to be able to use it on both a MacBook and a Windows-based PC, use FAT or FAT32.
