“Has anyone taken one of these apart? If so, do they have a normal SATA interface with a SATA to USB micro board, or do they have a soldered on USB connection? Asking because SATA would allow this to be a large internal back up drive in a laptop.”

Hi Jeff, Please be informed that the WD Easystore drive is a plug 'n' play device tested and designed for Windows and Mac computers. The drive is both USB 3.0 ready and USB 2.0 compatible.
