“I keep seeing a reference to ‘Time Machine’ is this software that comes from WD or is purchased separately? I had used Norton Ghost for complete HD imaging of the drive for failure backups to restore the HD. Interested if similar program. Thanks”

Hi Majeskty, Please be informed that Time Machine can be used with most external USB hard drives as well as many Network devices. For external drives, the device must be formatted as HFS+ in order to be used with Time Machine. Time Machine is a backup method supported on macOS.
