Sounds like its need to be erased and formatted in the proper format. Most drives even if they say Mac compatible are formatted in ntfs or fat32 which dont work well or at all with macS
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This is an issue with macOS. Often disabling spotlight will prevent the issue of Finder trying to us it. After force eject, the os is running checks the next time it is attached. Effectively you just have to wait 10-30. minutes and it will eventually mount.
