I am assuming you mean for running games directly from it on your gaming laptop? It will allow you and is pretty fast (that is how I use it). Is USB 3 (either via usb C or using the included USB-c to USB-A cable). Read speed and write speed is pretty fast (way faster than a regular HDD). The benefit of it is that is external. One thing I do notice is that it seems to disconnect sometimes (mostly when downloading things, it hasn't when playing a game though). If you are able and willing to open your laptop I recommend either updating the NVMe (if it has one, if it doesn't then install one (this is the fastest style of SDD you can get right now)) or an internal SATA drive.
