I transferred my data from an older external drive to the new 5TB drive by simply USB connecting both drives to my laptop, then moved my files from my old device to my new device. It is pretty easy, but if you have many files or large files, it will take some time to transfer between devices initially, but once it is done, you will able to open your data in an instant.
