My WD drives do click but only when reading/writing and when they auto defrag. When idle, they may hum a little while the disk is spinning. I would be concerned if they didn't make a little noise.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No clicking coming from mine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. These are normal sounds from the drive accessing the data on the platter. The noise at startup is also quite normal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've not had that problem with any of my Western drives but I once did with a couple of Seagates, both of which were the same model. All my home systems are Mac and a quick search found that those Seagates had a well known issue with Macs. Not knowing what OS you're running, it's possible that could be your issue. If at all possible, try to update to the latest version your system will allow. If your hardware won't update to the latest version, it may be time to buy a new system. if that's not possible, then you might be out of luck.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I read that the clicking is normal. I also read that it's wise to not allow it to run over night.
