Although it should fit in any laptop designed with a SATA interface, some Apple products have finicky format requirements that can only be satisfied with a drive factory SPECIFICALLY formatted for Apple products. Either way, you will likely have to switch a proprietary drive carriage from your old drive onto the new one for it to fit properly.

No. Your MacBook Air has 128GB or 256GB SSD that's not upgradable.

No macbook air uses a m.2 style flash drive. Not many aftermarket comapnies have them. It also depends on the year. 2011-2012 are the same. 2013-2015 are the same.
