“How to set up with DVR besides usb & power. Have 500GBP works fine. Can't figure how to set up to move movies from dvr to hard drive. Works now with 500GBP flawlessly. Is there something to unlock?”

With Dish, their dvr only recognizes 2tb external drives (those that require a power cord) or smaller, Has to do with the way it formats the drive initially. Best Buy salesperson swore larger drive would be recognized. It wasn't. Drive would spin endlessly when formatting. Best Buy accepted my return.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Answering own ? here, the 2TB works fine with hopper. Just needs to format. Didn't seem to work on 4TB. Figures $99 for 2TB & $129 for 4 TB. Costly to play this game of storage.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It depends completely on your DVR. Some allow backup to external drives and others do not. The only people who can answer that is your service provider. IE your cable, fiber, or satellite company. I know that a large percentage of DVRs are locked by providers and do not allow backup, but that is not always the case.
