“Will this work for Mac OS X? I see in the system requirements that for Macs it "requires reformatting." What exactly does that mean? I am running Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan on a 2013 Macbook Pro.”

• You will need to reformat the drive to Mac's format (this drive is formatted for Windows NTFS format) you reformat in "Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility" then select "Erase" and "Mac OS Extended Journaled" BUT! if you are not familiar with formatting drives I recommend you get a "Formatted for MAC" hard drive, same price and brand.

• Use the disk Utility in your iMac to format it to OSX journaled. If you are going to use it for backing your Mac Using time machine, this is all automatically done for you the first time you plug in the drive.

• Yes, I am using it on a Mac. The formatting is to deal with the difference in file systems between a PC & a Mac.

• You could reformat the drive, but it would probably be easier to just buy a Western Digital drive specifically for MACs. The price should be comparable.

• I don't know what that means. I am using it with a Macbook Pro and it was pretty much plug and play.
