Is this the latest generation of My Passport Ultra, the one that was just released or will be? If so, I was under the impression that it would have a USB-C with USB 3.1 port. It lists a "USB-C adapter" but also "data transfer with USB 3.0"... which is it? null

I have the WE Passport Ultra 4 TB External USB 3.0 Portable hard drive. It actually comes with USB type c connectors on both ends. Plus, it has a USB 3.0 adapter that can be snapped on, if you don't have a USB type c connector on your computer.

Yes, but I had some major issues that I thought meant a bad DOA drive, however, it turned out to be the WD cable and USB connections that came in the box. Replaced them and the drive became very very very fast in reading and writing files.

It is a USB-C cable and the adapter changes the connection from USB-C to type 3 for those without the port. If you have a USB-C port, the adapter is not needed and you will have C type speed.
