Mine came with a cord that has a USB-C type plug on both ends. It came with a USB-A adapter. You can take the adapter and plug it into either end of the cord and that end will plug into any of the USB ports on your laptop or desktop. The other end plugs into the USB-C port on the external hard drive itself.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Although this is an old question, I feel that it is worth answering. WD has a number of these that all look identical. When I purchased my most recent one I had the choice of USB-A with USB-C adaptor or just USB-C. They are not the same because the USB-A interface is slower, even with the USB-C adapter in use. However, I expect that they are otherwise the same reliable WD hardware inside.
