Yes, you can check your actual signal strength measured in dBm as the connectivity bars are not a great representation of your signal. (visit weBoost's blog for help on ways to do this - generally in an Android phone it can be found under settings and iPhones will need to be put into "Field Test" mode). You will want greater than -110 dBm for 3G and -120 dBm for 4G LTE. Remember, the strength of the outside signal will determine the range of the booster in your home. If you have poor signal outside, this booster will cover a small room only. To cover more square footage we would recommend looking at a stronger booster like the Home Complete or Home MultiRoom.

Generally, I would say that if you have 1 CONSISTENT bar it should work. I has very weak service,... (floated between no service and 1 bar), and it did not work for me. I had to move up to the next level.
