Q: QuestionHow good is the security on these Wemos? I assume if works with an app alone on my phone that it does not interact with my network? Also appears can use without a hub or other device or interface? Now just need one for 3 way switches.
Asked by LoranC.
- A:Answer You can use the Wemo app to have control over your appliances. You connect them to your WiFi network, so I would believe it would be as secure as your network. You do not need a hub if you’re using the app for the product.

Q: QuestionCan a few of these safely be plugged into a power strip? The use would be to control three lamps separately.
Asked by BBCustomer.
- A:Answer Yes, I don't see why you would not be able to plug two or three of these into a single power strip. As long as the appliances (e.g. lights or fan or radio) don't draw extreme power, you will be fine.

Q: QuestionCan this device be kept of the internet w/o out setting a router to block? Does the app need internet for local control? What I want to know is can it be used just phone to switch or phone to router to switch vs. phone to cloud to switch?
Asked by WAVYware.
- A:Answer Hello! Without Internet connection, you can still locally access/control your Wemo devices but needs phone > router > switch connection. For remote access, it requires phone > cloud > switch connection.

Q: QuestionHow do I add another wemo mini to another outlet. I already have one set up in the Florida room
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I have 3 wemos all in different rooms. I had to plug them in in the room near the wifi to set up, then I could move them to whatever room I wanted. All easily controlled with the wemo app on my phone. They all work individually. I hope this answers your question.

Q: QuestionCan I have a mini-plug at one location and a different plug at another location in a different state and still run off the same app on my phone? Each would be connected to a different wifi network obviously.
Asked by Brokenplastic.
- A:Answer No, BuffaloBob. Our Wemo App does not support controlling Wemo devices in multiple locations using one handheld device. If you have two homes at a different location with Wemo devices in them, then you may need to secure another handheld device to control one of the locations.
