A:AnswerThe included light bulb was incandescent. I replaced it with a LED bulb that just barely fit because for some reason, they chose to have the bulb go in the short direction of the opening instead of lengthwise in the rectangular opening. It has high/low/off settings, but ours is still producing light even in the off setting. Just installed it today. Not sure yet if it is an issue with our microwave or just a quirk/feature of putting a LED bulb in there.
A:AnswerSammy, we're sorry to learn that the light will not turn off on your Microwave. We recommend contacting Whirlpool by calling 800-253-1301 weekdays between 8 am and 8 pm EST. Hopefully this information is beneficial to you. Thank you for your inquiry regarding our Whirlpool appliances!
A:AnswerNo. I just tried installing last night and even after shaving down some wood trim to expand the opening to more like 30.5", it still hits the wall on the left. Looks like I'll have to remove it and look for a zero clearance model. Best guess is that anyone with a wall/pantry on the left side would need at least a 31" opening for this microwave to work, and that's a full inch larger than standard for cabinets. Only use this model if there is no wall/pantry to the immediate left.
A:AnswerHello DonnaMarie! We are providing a link to the Installation Instructions. This will advise any necessary distances needed for proper installation. https://www.whirlpool.com/content/dam/global/documents/201705/InstallationInstructions-W10918334-RevA.pdf . Thank you for your inquiry on our Whirlpool appliances.
A:AnswerIt is unbelievably loud! I've had it a whopping day and a half and already I'm ready to return it. The speed setting must be on high, I'll see if low will make a difference. But that is definitely something to consider when you're buying this model. Never experienced such loudness with a microwave before!
A:AnswerHi wayne, for installation purposes, we would like to see 30 inches between the cooktop and bottom of the mounting cabinet. We hope this helps!
A:AnswerMy unit is about 19" above the stove top. In my opinion it is individual preterence, as well as the overall height of the people using it... I had to have the cabinets above the unit cut down to get the 19" above the stove, to me, around 19 to 20 inches above the stove is the perfect distance. As I said though, it depends on how tall you are... meaning if you are 4 foot 10 inches tall, you might need a step stool.
13.5" above the stove is too close to the range, the filter could get gunked up being that close.
A:AnswerHello Q20180112! This does not need to be mounted over a Range, it can be mounted over a counter top. We would just recommend following the Installation Instructions for proper installation. Thank you for your inquiry on our Whirlpool appliances.
A:AnswerThis is not an answer but a following question to the answer provided by Whirlpool, which wasn't a full answer. Could you at least answer the second part of my question regarding whether the mounting bracket for the Whirlpool will position the unit in the same place and fit in the same existing wall holes as the Amana.
