Could you at least answer the second part of my question regarding whether the mounting bracket for the Whirlpool will position the unit in the same place and fit in the same existing wall holes as the Amana.

QuestionCooking and reheating codes? I have an over the range microwave that was installed by our builder, who threw out all the documents. I have no sticker inside the front door, so I have no way of knowing what all of the preset codes are. HELP

- Answer I’ve got the manual. In this manual it states: “ For list of preset programs, see the Cooking Guide label on the front facing of the microwave oven opening, behind the door”. — Manual Cooking/Stage Cooking Touch COOK TIME, touch number keypads to enter time, touch COOK POWER (if not 100%), touch number keypads to enter power level (10-90), then touch the Start control. If programming additional stages, enter the cook time and cook power of each before touching the Start control. — Preset Cooking Touch COOK, enter number code of food item, enter quantity, then touch the Start control. — Preset Reheating Touch REHEAT, enter number code of food item, enter quantity if needed, then touch the Start control. — Preset Defrosting Unwrap food. Touch DEFROST, enter number code of food item, enter weight, then touch the Start control. — Soften/Melt Touch SOFTEN/MELT, enter number code of food item, enter quantity, then touch the Start control. I don’t have this Cooking Guide label….that’s my whole issue! I have no sticker on the inside of the microwave. So for Cooking, Reheating, Softening, Defrosting, I have nothing to refer to!

QuestionReplacing MH1150XMS-1 would WMH31017HZ mounting screw locations be close? I ask bcuz I have some unit depth overhang from cabinets which is fine, it fits & served me well since 2005 & would’ve cont. had plastic handle not broken. Just choosing to replace

- Answer Will, the depth is 15 9/16 inches, the height is 17 1/8 inches, and the width is 29 inches for model WMH31017HS. We would recommend that you use the installation hardware that comes with the new Microwave.

- Answer Open the door and you’ll see a list just below the turn table. For example: if you want to defrost meat push “defrost” then choose meat (1), poultry (2) or (3) fish then enter the pounds followed by the start button.

QuestionShould there be a vent cover above the door? I vent indoors and this seems like this is a large opening below a cabinet. See pic. Otherwise unit is great!

QuestionIs there a way to set it so the fan does not turn on every time we microwave something? I mean the vent fan that sucks the air from under the microwave - does not seem relevant to microwaving. Thank you.

- Answer Sounds like a technical issue. Ours doesn’t do that. You might want to exchange for a new one.

- Answer Hi sheabird, on this Whirlpool - 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave, the settings for the vent fan can be changed. They can be changed using the settings for High (“SPd2”), low (“SPd1”) and off. However, the Vent fan comes on automatically as cooling fan during any cook function. Thank you for your question!

QuestionShould a filter or screen be on the vent/air intake on the top of the unit? It's wide open where the air is drawn in for the vent but the space would allow smaller things to fall into the unit when removing from cabinet above the mountted microwave.

- Answer yes, a screen is provide that you small in to the bottom of the unit. a damper assembly witha louvre is provided for you to connect on the top or back of the unit if you are venting outside through the roof or wall, respectively.

- Answer Hello Jose, Charcoal filter: The charcoal filter is behind the vent grille at the top front of the microwave oven. The charcoal filter cannot be cleaned and should be replaced about every 6 months. Remove 2 screws on the vent grille, slide the vent grille to the left, tilt it forward, lift it out, and remove the filter. To reinstall, place the filter into its 2-hook area with the wire mesh side to the front. Replace the vent grille by inserting the 3 bottom latch hooks of the vent grille into the front holes, tilt the vent grille backwards, slide it to the right, and secure with screws.

- Answer no. The X will stop operation but will also clear settings. Opening the door will stop operation also but may harm magnatron.
