“Is there a way to tell if this product has been vented out (rather than circulated air) without needing to remove the microwave from its installation? I moved into the unit with it already installed and I think the unit might not be venting out.”

Easiest way would be to turn it on and out your hand at the top. If you feel blown air, it is on circulation mode.
