Hi Bobbi, the two units fill the same tier for consumer in the Whirlpool and Maytag lines. The control panels feature different layouts, shelves and door bins are Maytag or Whirlpool based. You will also notice the Maytag model has a single paddle for ice and water, you have to select what to dispense. Maytag designers aim for simple, robust designs.
